Espresso or is an italian coffee beverage first brewed in 1901. It is brewed by forcing hot water under pressure through finely ground coffee. As a result the resulting cup of coffee is very strong
When espresso is compared to other coffee brewing methods, we can see that it often has a thicker consistency, is stronger due to a higher concentration of dissolved ground coffee , and has foam. This is a result of the presurised brewing process, which casuses the espresso to have a stronger flavour and concentration than normal coffee. Due to this strong flavour, espresso is used as base for other Italian style coffee drinks, such as americanos, cappuccino, macchiato, mochas, and lattes.
